Building Bridges of Peace Ahead of Elections
Ahead of Ghana’s 2024 general elections, Peace for Life Ghana (PLG) launched a powerful campaign to promote peaceful coexistence among political parties and communities in the North East Region.
Through the Security in Northern Ghana (SING III) project, funded by the STAR-Ghana Foundation with support from the FCDO, PLG organized peace walks, football matches, inter-ethnic forums, and dialogue sessions. One of the major achievements was the signing of a peace pact between NDC and NPP executives in the Nalerigu/Gambaga Constituency — witnessed by the Electoral Commission, Regional Peace Council, and Municipal Police.
These initiatives created platforms for open dialogue and collaboration between community leaders, political actors, and citizens. Beyond reducing tensions, they reinforced trust and unity across ethnic and political divides.
In a time when polarization threatens democracy, PLG’s community-led peacebuilding model stands out as a beacon of hope — showing that dialogue, not division, is the foundation of lasting peace.
