Bringing Clean Water and Hope to Rural Communities
For many families in communities like Kukuazugu, Nayirifongu, and Moshifongu, fetching water once meant walking for hours every day. Today, thanks to Peace for Life Ghana’s water and sanitation initiatives, clean water is only a few minutes away.
In 2024, PLG drilled four boreholes serving 230 households across several communities, ensuring reliable access to safe drinking water. Local seven-member committees were trained to maintain these facilities, helping extend the life and functionality of each borehole.
The impact has been profound. Families now spend less time fetching water, and school attendance — especially among girls — has improved since students no longer miss classes to collect water.
Lydia Kwarase, a resident of Kukuazugu, shared, “The borehole has reduced the time spent fetching water from hours to just minutes, allowing children to attend school regularly and women to engage in income-generating activities.”
This project embodies PLG’s commitment to social equity and inclusion, ensuring that every household — regardless of status — enjoys access to clean, safe water. Beyond improving health and hygiene, it restores dignity and hope to rural communities.
